What is physical therapy?
Physical Therapy is a health profession that combines the "science of healing and the art of caring" to treat movement dysfunctions. A physical therapist performs a comprehensive analysis of movement which includes identifying joints dysfunction, tissue limitations, muscular imbalances and structural pathologies. In order to assist patients, physical therapists use a variety of methods to create changes in tissue and movement patterns to ultimately restore function. Treatment consists of skilled manual therapy (hands on) with therapeutic exercise that simulates daily movements to rehabilitate the body, restoring maximal mobility and optimal mechanical motion, as well as provide preventative care.
What diagnoses can be helped with physical therapy?
Abilities and functions can be impaired due to various causes, which can significantly impact one's quality of life. Several diagnoses that PT can help significantly include stroke, traumatic brain injuries, neurological diseases, arthritis, surgery, or an injury. At Bodyscape, our staff is trained to evaluate each person and design an individualized treatment plan to allow each patient to return to activities important in their lives.

Physical therapists perform a comprehensive analysis of movement, which includes identifying the joints involved, tissue limitations, muscular imbalances, and structural pathologies. At Bodyscape, our staff provides manual therapy, customized exercise programs, and biomechanically efficient patterns of movement to address limitations and return patients to activities important in their lives. Chiropractors vary in their approach to patient care. Some primarily treat the spine and others treat the involved joint in conjunction with the tissues. In addition, Chiropractors can order special tests such as X-rays, MRIs and blood tests. Both chiropractors and physical therapists are integral components of a patient's medical team.
How do I choose the right physical therapist for me?
Each Physical Therapist has their own philosophy and approach to patient care, which is influenced by their education, experience, and clinical environment. You will get a sense of your therapist and their style of practice during your initial evaluation. You should feel comfortable at the clinic and confident that you will receive the best care.
