What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

  • Your pelvic floor has muscles that maintain bladder and bowel continence, support internal organs and control sexual function.
  • To perform optimally, your pelvic floor can be evaluated, treated and re-educated, much like other parts of your body.
  • Our therapists assess your strength, endurance, tone, flexibility, and overall ability for the pelvic floor to function optimally.  We aim to fully understand your impairments contributing to your symptoms.
  • We also work with your doctor (primary care, OB/GYN, gastroenterologist) to provide optimal care.
  • Then through education, manual therapy, biofeedback and an individualized exercise program, our therapists assist you in learning how to improve and manage your symptoms.
